Serve as a professional level Physical Therapist to conduct assessments/evaluation; participate as needed in developing, communicating, and monitoring developmental outcomes; and serve as a coach/technical liaison with community teams.

  1. Conducts developmental evaluation and assessment across all domains (cognitive, self-help/adaptive, fine and gross motor, communicative, and social/emotional), as part of a multi-disciplinary team, using standardized tools and clinical impressions when needed.
  2. Interprets evaluation and assessment results and maintains appropriate records as set by local, state and federal guidelines.
  3. Participates in developing appropriate developmental outcomes as part of the Family Support Team planning process.
  4. Serves as the primary service provider or therapist as part of a team assigned to individual children and families.
  5. Coaches families and care providers to enhance their capacity to increase child learning related to identified IFSP outcomes.
  6. Serves as a coach and provides training to assist community teams in the practice of the Florida Early Steps consultative/primary service provider model.
  7. Maintains professional license and attends training as necessary to maintain skills and knowledge as part of the birth to three multi-disciplinary team.
  8. Participates in external and internal quality assurance activities as necessary to meet program requirements.
  9. Consults with community providers to ensure continuity of care for enrolled children and families.
  10. Assists with planning and/or presenting in-service or professional development activities for the Local Early Steps staff and providers as necessary.

Secondary Functions
Service in consultative/coaching role.

Requirements:

Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for infants and toddlers with special needs.
Knowledge of and ability to apply State Program Plan and Operations Guide policies and procedures.
Ability to work independently and effectively with others.
Ability to communicate effectively and courteously verbally and in writing.
Ability to organize and prioritize assignments.
Ability to interact effectively with staff and outside contacts.

Valid Florida license as a Physical Therapist.
Two years experience working with children birth to three preferably in a setting in the home or other environment outside the clinical setting.
