Epidemiology / HIV / AIDS

 

The HIV/AIDS Program provides intervention and prevention services for Area 4 which includes Nassau, Baker, Clay, St. John’s and Duval Counties. Program staff works cooperatively with local providers, religious organizations and community service agencies to identify and reach as many at risk individuals as possible.

Where can I get free condoms? All Florida Department of Health in Nassau County clinic locations have free condoms available to the public.
I am HIV positive and need services. Who can I contact about this? (or any other questions about care/meds/services, etc.) Call 904-548-1860 ext. 5226.
What is the difference between a rapid-HIV test and traditional HIV test? The major difference between a rapid-HIV test and traditional HIV tests is the amount of time it takes for the results to be available. A rapid HIV test can take as little as 20 minutes for results while a traditional HIV test can take up to 4 weeks for results.
Are rapid-HIV tests available at Florida Department of Health in Nassau County clinic locations? No, you would have to go to Duval County.
How do I get confidential basic information about HIV/ AIDS? Access the Centers for Disease Control HIV/AIDS website.
What is the cost for an HIV test? The price for a traditional HIV test is based on a sliding fee scale. There is a charge of $35.00 for an anonymous HIV test.
