June 09 - August 15 - YMCA Summer Day Camp
OVERVIEW At the YMCA, summer day camp is all about discovery-discovering new skills, new friends and new values. Few environments are as special as camp, where kids become a community of their very own. It's in this safe setting that they learn how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group as they engage in physical, social and educational activities. They develop attitudes and practices that build character and leadership-all amidst the fun of camp field trips, " SPARK" physical activity games, reading clubs, swimming and talent shows. On top of all this, kids stay engaged in academics through reading and STEM activities, preventing summer learning loss and ensuring that they're ready and confident to start the next school year. Summer day camp isn't just about the kids, though. It gives parents a break from the stress of out-of-school children to make their family time that much more enjoyable and valuable. Because we're the Y, everyone is welcome, regardless of income or background. Scholarships are available for families of lower-income situations, so they can access the fun and lifelong experiences of summer day camp. Kids and parents alike remember summer camp for years to come. And they remember everyone who helped make it happen, from their wonderful and welcoming counselors to the sponsors who brought the memories to life with t-shirts and memorabilia. It's a Y tradition alive in families throughout our community.
