Foodborne and Waterborne Investigations

Florida Department of Health in Volusia County Environmental Health

Environmental Health, together with its team of regional food/waterborne illness epidemiologists and DOH-Volusia health department staff, are responsible for investigating illness outbreaks associated with food and water consumption and recreational water use.

DOH-Volusia Environmental Health and Epidemiology staff routinely partner with other State and local agencies to respond to food or waterborne illness outbreaks at facilities under their jurisdiction. This investigation is conducted to determine the source of the outbreak and prevent further spread of disease.
