You do not need parental approval although we advise on the importance of involving parents or legal guardians in the decision to seek services for family planning.

Family Planning (Birth Control) is available at all Volusia County Health Department health centers.  Cost is based on a sliding fee scale based on income. Please call one of our locations for further information and to schedule an appt:

Yes, we do give out free condoms at each of our locations in DeLand, Deltona, New Smyrna Beach and Daytona Beach. For any questions about condom pick up please call 386-274-0651.

STD testing starts at $69 (cost subject to change). There is sliding fee scale based on household income.
 
bullet How old do I have to be to be seen without my parents for STD testing? return to top
You must be at least 13 years old.

If you are 13 years old or older, all information is confidential and we can not tell your parents.

bullet What is the difference between a rapid-HIV test and traditional HIV test? return to top
The major difference between a rapid-HIV test and traditional HIV tests is the amount of time it takes for the results to be available. A rapid HIV test can take as little as 20 minutes for results while a traditional HIV test can take up to 4 weeks for results.
 
bullet Are rapid-HIV tests available at all VCHD health center locations? return to top
Only the Daytona Beach location offers rapid-HIV tests. Other community partners, including Outreach Community Care Network offer rapid-HIV tests.
 
bullet What is the cost for an HIV test? return to top
The price for a traditional HIV test is $19 (subject to change) and the rapid-HIV test costs $20 (subject to change).

Our dental offices provides preventive, restorative (fillings) and emergency care for children.
 
bullet What are the dental eligibility requirements for children? return to top
  • Children age 0 – 20 on Medicaid - Any child living in Volusia County between 0 and 18 years of age who are experiencing pain and without a dental home will be cared for on a sliding fee scale.
  • Children that are enrolled in one of the following programs: Children’s Medical Service, Foster Care Children, Head Start, and Early Head Start.

We accept Medicaid and Medicaid HMO (call for information). There is financial assistance for dental services based on monthly income (sliding fee scale) for children with dental emergencies age 0 – 18 that live in Volusia County who do not have a dental home.

Adults on Medicaid - Age 21 and over who have a dental emergency and are in pain.
 
bullet How do I get my immunization records? return to top
If you received your immunizations in Florida and the information was entered into the Florida SHOTS™ statewide database, you can visit any of our immunization locations during their hours and request your records. You don't need an appointment.  There is no charge for this service.  Please consult our immunization web page for locations, hours of operation and phone numbers.
 
bullet My child needs a vaccine. What do I need to bring with me? Do I need an appointment? How much do they cost? return to top
Vaccines for children are provided on a walk-in basis. Please see our web page for our locations and hours of operation. You will need to bring their shot records. You should be able to obtain a copy from your child’s school (if school aged) or from pediatrician where child was last seen. The Vaccines for Children Program offers vaccines at no-cost for eligible children. Contact the department to find out if your child qualifies.

Yes we offer travel shots. We follow the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. To view what you will need, please visit the CDC Website. No. You will need get a prescription from your physician, and take it to a pharmacy to have it filled.
 
bullet Does the Volusia County Health Department provide the vaccine for shingles? return to top
Yes.  The cost is approximately $171.61 (price subject to change). We do not take insurance for this vaccine, therefore you will need to discuss reimbursement with your insurance company. Please call ahead to make sure that the vaccine will be available when you visit.  Please consult our immunization web page for our locations, hours of operation and phone numbers and whether or not an appointment is necessary.

You can get a TB skin test at any of our Immunization locations. The cost is $27.00 (cost subject to change).

Yes we do, both credit and debit. Credit cards accepted are Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.  We also accept debit  cards but with the Visa or Mastercard logos only.
