Annotated text transcript: Welcome to EMSTARS computer based training. In this demonstration, we will go over the different categories under the 'Agency' tab, in the main menu of the EMSTARS application. The Agency tab, is the default tab, when you log in to the EMSTARS system. If you are not familiar with logging into the system, please see the demonstration on logging in, on the main menu of this training. Let's get started. Click anywhere (in this demonstration screen) to start... Currently, there are three categories under the Agency tab. First, we will perform lookups, in the Agency Directory. The Agency Directory contains a listing of all agencies participating in the EMSTARS system, and their demographic details. Click the Agency Directory link to continue... This is the agency directory screen. From here you can, enter a partial agency name, or a partial county name, in which an agency might serve, to limit the number of agencies returned. The results will be displayed after you click the search button. You can also check the Show all agencies check box to show all of the agencies participating in the EMSTARS system. Click anywhere (in this demonstration screen) to continue... For this demonstration, we will look for any agency, who's name contains the word fire. This will limit our results. But you could also, perform a lookup on agencies that service Miami-Dade County, for example, by typing it in the county box. Click the 'Search' button to continue... Here are the results of our search. As you can see, only those agencies, who's name contains the word fire, have been returned. You will also notice, that you can refine your search results by using the filter selections at the top of the page. You can also sort the results, by clicking on the header links, in each column of the results. But first, lets look at the Export Data functionallity at the bottom of the results grid. Click on the Export Data link, at the bottom of the results table to continue... Most result sets, in the EMSTARS application, can be exported. They just require, that you have spread-sheet software, like Excel installed. Or, if you choose a program to view it with, use HTML and it will display as a table. Click anywhere (in this demonstration screen) to continue... Before we start using the filters, let's see some of the detail available for an agency. You can view the details of an agency, by clicking the link in the Agency Name column. Click on the 'Jacksonville Fire / Rescue' link to continue... Here is the detailed information for Jacksonville Fire / Rescue. As you can see, a great deal of demographic information, including agency contact information, can be found here. Click anywhere (in this demonstration screen) to scroll down and see the rest of this information... Besides the agency contact information, you can also find the medical director's contact information on this page. Click anywhere (in this demonstration screen) to continue... Now let's continue, by going over some of the filtering options available to you. Click on the 'Agency' dropdown to continue.. As you can see, the filtering options only include, those agencies in the results displayed below it. If you need to broaden your search, use the search box to the left, above the search button. We will be filtering by county. Click anywhere (in this demonstration screen) to continue... Click the 'County' dropdown box to continue... Select Miami-Dade from the list. Click Miami-Dade to continue... Finally, click the Apply Filter button to filter your results to those agencies that sevice Miami-Dade county. Click the 'Apply Filter' button to continue... As you can see, the results returned, are limited to the filter selections, and based off of the original search result. Let's proceed to the next section. Click on the 'Agency' tab when you are ready... The next section, below the Agency Directory, is Licensed Personnel. Here we can view information about licensed personnel within an agency. Keep in mind that, this is a secure area. And, if you are not a member of the platinum reporting group, or above, you will not see this section. Click on the 'Licensed Personnel' link to continue... This is the Licensed Personnel page. Bacause you are not permitted to return all personnel, for all agencies, you must complete at least one field containing three characters, to perform a search. Also, because the amount of data returned can be very large, please try to refine your initial searches as much as possible. This will decrease the amount of time you have to wait for results. Click anywhere (in this demonstration screen) to continue... In this demonstration, we will look for any agency, where the name contains 'fire' and the last name contains ross. Click on the 'Search' button to continue... Now that our result is refined, let's further apply a filter, to only show the personnel in the Jacksonville Fire / Rescue agency. Click on the 'Agency' dropdown list to continue... Click on 'Jacksonville Fire / Rescue' to continue... Now, click on the 'Apply Filter' button... As you can see, the results have been refined further, to only include personnel from the selected agency. Let's further explore, by exporting the data displayed. Click the 'Export Data' link, at the bottom of the results to continue... The export function only exports data that is returned in the grid. Click anywhere (in this demonstration screen) to continue... In the final section of this demonstration, we will continue with the Key User Directory. Here we can, just as in the Agency Directory, lookup key users belonging to an agency, and get their contact information. When you are ready, click on the 'Key User Directory' link to continue... Here you must provide at least three characters, to perform a search. I have entered the word 'fire' for you. Click on the 'Search' button to continue... As you can see, a great deal of results were returned. Lets use the filter, to limit the results, to key users belonging to Jacksonville Fire / Rescue. Click in the 'Agency' dropdown to continue... Select the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department from the list. Click on the list item to continue... Click the 'Apply Filter' button to continue... Now the data is filtered, we can contact the key user. Before we finish, I would like to show you a dialog, you may see, depending on your browsers settings. Click the 'Export Data' link to continue... Depending on your computers settings, whenever you open a file downloaded from the internet, you may see a dialog like the one shown here. If you uncheck the box to always ask, this dialog will not reappear. However, it is up to you, and your local IT policies as to whether you do so. Click the 'Open' button to continue... Again we have the results in a tabular format that we can use for our own data purposes. Click anywhere (in this demonstration screen) to continue... This concludes this demonstration.
