For this lesson, we will go over downloading a FTP client, to your local machine. This demonstration, and all other ftp related lessons, will use the FileZilla ftp client software. To navigate to the FileZilla project web, enter the following address, in your browser's address bar: http://filezilla-project.org. Click anywhere in the demo screen to continue. At the time of this recording, the link to download the client software, was near the bottom of the page. Remember, you are looking for client software. Do not download the server software. And, as always, check with your local I.T. administrator to be sure that they do not already have ftp software that you should use as governed by local policies. Click on the 'Download FileZilla Client' link to continue. You are now on the client download screen. Here you can download the appropriate client software for your operating system. EMSTARS users should be using a Windows based OS (Operating System). On the client download screen, select the download under the Windows bullet. Click the reccomended link to continue. Notice any security messages in your browser. In this case, we are using Internet Explorer 7. It is safe to right click in the security bar, and click the Download File menu option. Click the Download File menu option to continue. You may receive a security warning dialog. Click the save button to save the setup files to your local machine. Click the save button to continue. Once your dowload has completed, note the location where you have saved the file. In the next lesson we will go over installing the software. Click the close button to end this lesson.
