Annotated text transcript: Welcome to EMSTARS computer based training. In this demonstration, we will login to the EMSTARS system. Click anywhere (in this demonstration screen) to start... Before we begin with the login process, let's go over what EMSTARS is, and what you can expect as a new user, prior to logging on to the system for the first time. Click anywhere (in this demonstration screen) to continue... EMSTARS is the acronym for: Emergency Medical Services Tracking And Reporting System. In order to achieve the goals, defined by our mission statement, we use the EMSTARS system to collect, track, and report on incident level data, to facilitate the continued improvement of EMS service, and patient care statewide. Upon creation of that account, you will receive an email response like the one shown here. Do not lose this email until you have initially logged into the system. The password you are given, is only good for the first time you log in. Upon logging in you will be required to change it. We will cover this subject further in the lesson. Click anywhere (in this demonstration screen) to continue... Now that you have received your new user email, you will (along with the provider information given to you by your key user) be able to login to the EMSTARS system. To navigate to the EMSTARS system, open your web browser, and type the following address: www.floridaemstars.com. Click anywhere (in this demostration screen) to navigate to the EMSTARS project web... www.FloridaEMSTARS.com This is the EMSTARS project web site. You should visit this website often, to keep up to date with the latest news and information surrounding the Emstars system. Click anywhere (in this demonstration screen) to continue... To log in, to the EMSTARS application, click on the 'Login' link in the main menu of the project web site. Click on the 'Login' link to continue... Upon first entry, into the EMSTARS application, you may receive a security alert dialog box, like the one shown here. In order to gain access to the EMSTARS application, you must proceed. Click on the 'Yes' button to continue... This is the Provider Login screen. The EMSTARS system uses two levels of authentication to verify users who login to the system. The provider login, which you see here, accepts a provider ID and a provider password. The provider ID is your agency's identifier, and can be obtained either from your key user, or the original new user email you received at the start of this process. Your password must be obtained from your key user. It is unique to your agency and must be used in conjunction with the user name assigned to this agency. The second level of the authentication process, is the user login. Click on the 'Login' button to continue... This is the User Login screen. Here you will enter the user name and password, assigned to you, from the system generated email you should have received. Notice that the 'Select to change password...' checkbox is selected. This is because, in this demonstration, you will be logging on to the system for the first time. If this were a subsequent login, you would have the ability to change your password here, at any time. However, please note that passwords do expire (read the security policy for more information) and you will be forced to change your password at regular intervals. Also, remember that passwords are case sensitive, and must also follow strict security policy rules. Click on the 'Login' button to continue... Now that you have entered all login information, you are still not officially authenticated untill you accept the security terms in the EMSTARS User Security Policy. You must accept these terms in order to access the system. You will also notice at the top of the screen, password change information. When you must, or have selected, to change your password, this message will appear. If you are not required to change your password, you will not receive this message. Instead you will only be presented with the security terms, under the warning section of this page. Click the 'Accept Security Terms' button to continue... Because this is your first login, or if you had selected to change your password, once you accept the security terms, you will be brought to the Change Password screen. In order to successfully change your password, you must reenter your current username and password, then enter your new password, as well as, re-entering your new password, as a conformation to ensure that it is typed correctly. Once you have changed your password, you will not be forced to do so again, until the alloted time dictated by security policy expires. Click the 'Change Password' button to continue... Upon future logins to the site, this is what the Security Terms screen will look like, if you have not selected, or are required to change your password. Click the 'Accept Security Terms' buttton to continue... You are now successfully logged into the EMSTARS system. Click anywhere (in this demonstration screen) to conclude this lesson. Thank you.
