Annotated text transcript: Welcome to EMSTARS computer based training. In this lesson we will go over using the FileZilla FTP client software. Click anywhere on the screen to start this lesson. Before you can successfully connect to a Florida Department of Health server, you must have an FTP account, with your user name and password. This account is not the same as your EMSTARS account. If you need assistance with submitting an FTP account application, or for more information, please visit the EMSTARS project web site at www.floridaemstars.com. Click Anywhere on the screen to continue... First, let's create an account using the site manager. To open the site manager, click on the file menu item, and then the site manager menu item. You may also use the site manager toolbar item or the control key plus the letter 's' on your keyboard to access the site manager screen. Click the 'Site Manager' menu item to continue... The site manager screen allows you to enter all of your connection information in one place, so you do not have to re-enter the same information each time you use the FileZilla software. To create a new site, click the new site button under the select entry folders. Click the new site button to continue... After you have created a new site, the software will automatically place your site under the my sites folder. You can rename this site to whatever you wish. For the purposes of this demonstration, we will use FileZilla Demo Site as the title. Click the highlighted text to rename the site. Click the highlighted text to continue... Now that the site has been created, we can enter all of the account information. In the host text box, highlighted in red, type the name of the server you were given by DOH staff. Click in the textbox to enter the host name. Click in the highlighted text box to continue... In the servertype dropdown, you must select the SFTP list item. Click the SFTP list item to continue... For the logontype dropdown, select the normal account type. Click the normal list item to continue... In the user text box, type the user name assigned to your sftp account by DOH staff. Note that this is not the same user name as your EMSTARS account. Click in the user text box to continue... In the password text box, enter the password assigned to your sftp account by doh staff. This password is unique to your agency, and is not the same as your EMSTARS account. Click in the password text box to continue... After you have entered your password, this is all of the information the site manager needs to make a connection. Click on the connect button to continue... Upon the first time you connect, you will receive an unknown host key dialog box. Check the always trust this host checkbox and click the OK button. Click the OK button to continue... Now that you have successfully set up the site in the site manager, you can easily make future connections by clicking on the down arrow next to the site manager tool bar item, and choosing the site you have created from the list. Click the FileZilla Demo Site list item to continue... Before we continue, let's go over the panels you will see once connected. Click anywhere to continue... The top most panel, lists status, commands, responses, and errors issued to and from the ftp server. Click anywhere to continue... The left panel, lists files and folders on your local machine. Click anywhere to continue... The right panel, lists files and folders on the machine you are connected to. In this case, it is the DOH server. Click anywhere to continue... In order to securely transfer a file to the DOH server, you only need to browse (just like you do in windows explorer) to the location where your agency's software has placed the xml export file for the Florida EMSTARS system (left panel). Next, you click and drag that file, into the outbox folder on the DOH server (right panel). It's that easy. To continue, and see this action in operation, click anywhere...
