The Daytona Field Office is one of five counties statewide participating in a State sponsored beachwater sampling program. The results of this program are posted in the Daytona Beach News Journal on a routine basis. The majority of our work in the onsite sewage program is the permitting of existing system repairs. This office has encouraged connection to city sewer whenever possible in these problem areas.

The DeLand office's most prominent programs are: onsite sewage, swimming pools and spas, food hygiene and indoor air.

The one activity or service that sets the New Smyrna Beach Office apart from the other field offices is the aerobic treatment unit (ATU) program. In 1990, the Volusia County Counsel passed an ordinance which require ATU's to be utilized near the river instead of septic tanks.

Lab Sample Acceptance Hours: Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays or Sundays 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (NOTE: samples should be delivered no later than 2 pm for same day analysis.)

The laboratory is a National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP) certified laboratory. Being state certified allows the data provided by the laboratory to be used in court to support regulatory and enforcement actions if necessary. The Laboratory is certified by the Florida Department of Health Bureau of Laboratories Certification Program to perform analyses for the Safe Drinking Water Act and Clean Water Act.
