Count the Kicks
Count the Kicks is an evidence-based stillbirth prevention and awareness program that teaches expectant parents the method for, and importance of, tracking fetal movement daily during the third trimester of pregnancy.
The Florida Department of Health is excited to share with expectant parents and providers this evidence-based program designed to prevent stillbirths. For more information visit https://www.floridahealth.gov/programs-and-services/womens-health/pregnancy/count-the-kicks/index.html.
My Birth Matters Florida
Did you know? Cesarean sections (C-sections) can be important and even lifesaving in some circumstances. But many C-sections can be avoided. A C-section is a major surgery and that can mean more chances for complications, like infections and heavy blood loss. They also take longer for mothers to heal from. Once a woman has a C-section, she has a greater chance of having a C-section or preterm birth in future pregnancies. Florida’s C-section rate has been consistently higher than the Healthy People 2030 target goal of 23.6 percent.
The Florida Department of Health (Department), the Agency for Health Care Administration (Agency), the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative (FPQC), and the Florida Hospital Association (FHA) are launching the My Birth Matters Florida campaign, modeled after the California My Birth Matters campaign (MyBirthMatters.org). The purpose of the campaign is to promote vaginal deliveries and reduce unnecessary C-section deliveries for expectant mothers with low-risk pregnancies.
