Healthy Start

Healthy Start The Healthy Start Program is an exciting and worthwhile program that is available to pregnant women, infants and children up to the age of three. This program is available to everyone free of charge. Trained, knowledgeable, friendly and caring staff members are there to help and support clients throughout the client's pregnancy and after the birth of the child.

Our goal is to reduce infant mortality, reduce the number of low birth weight infants, and improve health and developmental outcomes through education and services. We assure that the all of the needs of our clients are met throughout their pregnancy and help each infant to start a healthy life.

Our services include:
  • Breastfeeding Education
  • Car Seat Safety Classes
  • Certified Lactation Counselors
  • Childbirth Education and Classes
  • Home visits to help assess your needs, provide prenatal education and parenting skills
  • Inter-Conceptual Counseling and Education
  • Pregnancy Medicaid Information
  • Psychosocial Services
  • Referrals to receive additional medical care
  • Referrals for WIC
  • Smoking Cessation Education
  • Transportation Information and Assistance

Mom Care

MomCare Mom Care provides information, referral and assistance for pregnant women covered by Medicaid. A maternity care advisor will contact you to make sure that you have a prenatal care doctor, are enrolled in the WIC program and are screened for Healthy Start risk factors.

  • The maternity care advisor will initiate services to help you:
  • Choosing a health care provider for you and your unborn baby
  • Finding community resources
  • Meeting your needs via educational services (ie. childbirth, breastfeeding, parenting or smoking cessation classes)
  • Enrolling with the Women, Infant and Children's Nutrition Program (WIC)
  • Obtaining Healthy Start Services
