Hendry County Health Department HIV Early Intervention Services
The Early Intervention Services (EIS) program provides outpatient medical care for individuals who do not have the means to pay for private medical services. This program provides continuous comprehensive health care for persons with HIV/AIDS. We are committed to providing the highest quality of care, compassion, and respect for human dignity and to the right of privacy. Your confidentiality and privacy are assured.
Clinic and case management services are supported through grants from the following agencies: State of Florida Division of Disease Control HIV/AIDS program, the Federal Government Department of Health and Human Services HIV \/AIDS Bureau, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. A financial screening at the initial appointment verifies client eligibility for patient care services and participation in the Florida AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP). Client eligibility is updated every six months. All clinical fees are based upon a sliding scale and there is a CAP restricting the amount that a client is expected to pay.
AIDS Drug Assistance Program
The Hendry County Health Department will respond to client medication needs through different funding sources. Clients who are eligible for Medicaid and do not have health insurance can enroll in the State of Florida AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP).
Adherence to antiviral therapy – (taking your medication as prescribed) – MUST be a priority for all of us.
The clinical staff will work closely with clients to develop a plan tailored to their specific needs, assess their adherence, and discuss ways to help them remember each dose.
Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS
Funds from the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) are used as a bridge to self-sufficiency for clients who unable to pay their housing and/or utility expenses. All HOPWA assistance is dependent on availability of federal funding to support the program. HOPWA is not an entitlement program nor is it designed to be a long term solution to housing concerns.
The program is designed to provide short-term assistance to HIV infected clients and their affected families to secure long-term housing which can be sustained with other non-HOPWA funding sources.
