The Tuberculosis (TB) Program at the Florida Department of Health in Indian River County provides the following services:

  • TB screening* for contacts of person with infectious TB disease

  • TB screening* for persons who are required to have testing (school, employment, etc.)

  • Diagnostic testing for TB

  • Treatment for suspected and confirmed TB disease

  • Treatment for Latent TB Infection (LTBI)

  • Medications for both active TB and LTBI


*Florida Department of Health in Indian River County is currently utilizing the Interferon Gamma Release Assay (IGRA) for its TB screening method.  This is a blood test which is now being done in place of Tuberculin Skin Testing (TST). This test has a very high rate of accuracy and specificity.
