Childhood Immunization Program

The Manatee County Childhood Immunization Initiative is funded through federal, state and local government revenues. Enhanced education and outreach activities have been made possible by a wide range of community support, including generous donations from the Oscar and Beatrice Mueller Foundation; the Kiwanis Club, Division 9; Patrick Media; and through a special grant awarded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. The goal is to protect children early in life by immunizing them against vaccine preventable diseases such as measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), tetanus, polio, hepatitis B, pneumonia, chicken pox and haemophilus influenzae Type B(Hib). Routine childhood immunizations are free for any child through age 18, regardless of family income. Some vaccines need to be given more than once to protect your child.

Keeping immunizations at a high level protects the community from vaccine-preventable diseases. A computerized reminder/recall system is used to track the immunization status of children to assure the highest level of immunization completion for each child.

Immunization are free for children age 4 weeks through age 18 years. Immunization services are done by appointment. To schedule an appointment please call (941) 748-0747 x1456. The office hours are Monday through Friday 8am to  5 pm except on the 3rd Wednesday. For more information, please visit our Immunizations page.
