Local emergencies have the capability to quickly overwhelm the capacity of first responders and the medical infrastructure, especially during the first 12-72 hours. Having residents who are pre-credentialed, trained and ready to respond during times of crisis will allow first-responders to focus their efforts on the most critical, life threatening situations. Volunteers supplement existing local emergency, medical and public health resources. You can help by becoming a volunteer yourself or encouraging others to get involved. Contact the West Central Florida Medical Reserve Corps, Citizen Emergency Response Teams (CERT), or any other community based volunteer organization and ask how you can get involved.
Are you a volunteer group representative? Contact DOH-Pasco CRI coordinator and we can let you know how your organization can join the effort.
