Enteric Diseases

Contact the Florida Department of Health

Enteric diseases are the most frequently reported of the non-sexually transmitted diseases that are reportable and investigated by county health department epidemiology staff. Impact on prevention and further spread is reduced for these diseases when an interview cannot be conducted while the patient is ill.  Some of the diseases that are categorized as enteric are salmonellosis, shigellosis, cryptosporidiosis, giardiasis, and cyclosporiasis.
