STATEMENT REGARDING CANDIDATE RECOMMENDATION FOR DIRECTOR OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH IN DUVAL COUNTY

TALLAHASSEE—Members of the selection committee for the Director of the Florida Department of Health (DOH) in Duval County met today to interview potential candidates to serve as the health officer for the community. The public forum included a Town Hall meeting that enabled the audience to participate in this unprecedented selection process. At the conclusion of the meeting, the selection committee unanimously recommended Kelli T. Wells, M.D. to be the new Director. Dr. Wells currently serves as Clinical Services Director for the Florida Department of Health in Escambia County. This recommendation will move forward through the appointment process which includes the concurrence of the Jacksonville City Council.
