Swannie Jett Named Administrator for Seminole County

~ Swannie Jett to spearhead efforts in Central Florida county ~
TALLAHASSEE—State Surgeon General and Secretary of Health Dr. John Armstrong has appointed Mr. Swannie Jett, DrPH, MSc, to serve as the Director of the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County, effective April. 1. Mr. Jett will oversee all public health efforts of the county health department and coordinate such programs as communicable diseases, environmental health and epidemiology. Most recently Jett served as the Public Health Director for Bullitt County Health Department in Kentucky.
"Mr. Jett brings an array of public health experiences to Seminole County," said Dr. Armstrong. "His passion for helping people, together with his ability to engage community leaders, ensures he will represent the Department's values effectively in Seminole."
Prior to his work in Bullitt County, Jett worked with the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness serving as the Manager of Clinical Operations, as well as the Executive Director in the Offices of Men's Health. Jett served in the United States Air Force, National Guard as a Public Health Officer and was a Bronze Star Recipient while serving in Iraq as the Commander of 103rd HHC.
Jett received his doctorate of public health in preventative medicine, environmental health, health services management from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, his Master of Science degree in bio-systems engineering and environmental science from the University of Tennessee and his Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture sciences and statistics from Tennessee State University.
