Dr. Susan Bulecza Appointed as Director of Public Health Practice Unit and State Public Health Nursing Director

DR. SUSAN BULECZA APPOINTED AS DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC HEALTH PRACTICE UNIT AND STATE PUBLIC HEALTH NURSING DIRECTOR

TALLAHASSEE—The Florida Department of Health announced that Susan Bulecza, DNP, RN, PHCNS-BC has rejoined the Department as the Director of the Public Health Practice Unit in the Office of Performance and Quality Improvement, and as State Public Health Nursing Director. Dr. Bulecza has over 12 years of public health experience at the local and state levels.

“The Department is pleased to have Dr. Bulecza rejoin our team in Tallahassee,” said Kim Barnhill, Chief of Staff for the Florida Department of Health. “Dr. Bulecza’s experience in serving the people of Florida will be invaluable in her new role.”

Previously, Dr. Bulecza served the Department as Community Health Nursing Consultant and Executive Community Health Nursing Director for the Maternal and Child Health Unit, Registered Nursing Consultant for the Bureau of STD Prevention and Control, Program Consultant/Assistant Director for the Office of Public Health Preparedness, and Preparedness Director for the Bureau of Preparedness and Response. Dr. Bulecza also served as a nurse with the Florida Department of Health in Leon County. In this role, she managed responsibilities including tuberculosis case management, Healthy Start, and school health. She has considerable experience with healthcare system standards, care management, quality management/assurance, and health care accreditation. Dr. Bulecza is a strong proponent of using evidence based data-driven measures to assure desired outcomes and evidence based decision-making.

Dr. Bulecza received her Doctor of Nursing Practice- Health Systems Leadership, Master of Science in Nursing- Clinical Nurse Specialist in Case/Care Management and Bachelor of Science in Nursing, all from Florida State University. Additionally, she is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Public/Community Health Clinical Nurse Specialist. Dr. Bulecza has also taught in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs as well as authored/co-authored several journal and textbook publications.
