Erin Hess Appointed As Marion County Administrator

FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH APPOINTS ERIN HESS MARION COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR

TALLAHASSEE—The Florida Department of Health has announced Erin Hess as the new administrator for the Florida Department of Health in Marion County. Hess has served county health departments in Florida since 2005, and her first day in her new post is May 22.

"Erin Hess has spent 10 years of her professional career serving the public in Florida," said Kim Barnhill, deputy secretary for County Health Systems. "Ms. Hess is a proven public servant who is dedicated to public health in our state. We are confident she will continue to serve the people of Florida well in her new role."

Hess has an extensive background in the public sector and has experience in the coordination of community events, public relations and information, strategic planning, and grant writing. She has most recently served as administrator for the Florida Department of Health in Okeechobee County and interim administrator for the Florida Department of Health in Hardee County.

Hess previously served as administrative services director for the Florida Department of Health in Highlands County from 2009 to 2011 and as healthy lifestyle coordinator for the Florida Department of Health in Hardee County from 2005 to 2009. She has worked for the cities of Bloomington, Indiana; Owensboro, Kentucky; and Sebring, Florida.

Hess has been a member of Toastmasters International since 2009 and received a Davis Productivity Award in 2010 for her work on the Community Health Improvement Planning Training Team. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in public affairs from Indiana University in 2002 and a Master of Nonprofit Management from the University of Central Florida in 2009.
