State Surgeon General Appoints Eleven to Advisory Council on Radiation Protection

STATE SURGEON GENERAL DOCTOR JOHN ARMSTRONG APPOINTS ELEVEN TO ADVISORY COUNCIL ON RADIATION PROTECTION

TALLAHASSEE—Today, State Surgeon General and Secretary of Health Dr. John Armstrong announced 11 appointments to the Advisory Council on Radiation Protection.

Dr. William Atherton, DC, DACBR, with Chiropractic Radiology Consultants brings 15 years of experience as a chiropractic radiologist. He is reappointed as the chiropractic radiologist representative for a three-year term beginning July 10, 2015, and ending July 9, 2018.

Dr. Brian Birky, Ph.D., with the Florida Industrial and Phosphate Research Institute brings 25 years of experience in radiation experience. He is appointed as an expert in environmental radiation matters for a three-year term beginning July 10, 2015, and ending July 9, 2018.

Mr. Paul Burress, MPH, CHP, CIH, CPH, with Florida State University’s Environmental Health and Safety Department brings 30 years radiation control and safety experience, including nine years of service in the U.S. Navy. He is reappointed as the certified health physicist representative for a three-year term beginning July 10, 2015, and ending July 9, 2018.

Ms. Chantel Corbett, AS, CNMT, RT(N), RSO, with Fusion Physics, LLC brings 14 years of nuclear medicine experience. She is appointed as the certified radiologic technologist-nuclear medicine representative for a three-year term beginning July 10, 2015, and ending July 9, 2018.

Ms. Kathleen Drotar, M.Ed, RT(R)(N)(T), with Keiser University brings 31 years of clinical experience and holds certification in all three radiologic technologist practice areas. She is reappointed as the certified radiologic technologist-therapy representative for a three-year term beginning July 10, 2015, and ending July 9, 2018. 

Dr. Mary Bridget Hart, MD, ABIM, ABNM, with Bay Pines VA Health Care System brings 25 years of experience in nuclear medicine practice. She is appointed as the board-certified nuclear medicine physician for a three-year term beginning July 10, 2015, and ending July 9, 2018. 

Ms. Rebecca Coffey McFadden, RT(R), with Munroe Regional Medical Center brings 25 years of experience in radiography. She is appointed as the certified radiologic technologist-radiographer representative for a three-year term beginning July 10, 2015, and ending July 9, 2018.

Dr. Randy Schenkman, MD, formerly with the Baptist Hospital, Miami, brings over 30 years of experience in radiology. She is reappointed as the board-certified radiologist for a three-year term beginning July 10, 2015, and ending July 9, 2018. 

Mr. Albert Tineo, MS, CNMT, with Halifax Medical Center brings over 30 years of experience in nuclear medicine and radiology. He is reappointed as the representative from the from the administration of a hospital affiliated with a radiologic technology education program for a three-year term beginning July 10, 2015, and ending July 9, 2018.

Mr. Matthew Walser, PA-C, ATC, MPAS, MSESS, with the University Of Florida Department Of Orthopedics brings nine years of experience as a practicing clinical and surgical physician assistant. He is appointed as a person who has never been certified as a radiologic technologist or been a member of any closely related profession for a three-year term beginning July 10, 2015, and ending July 9, 2018.

Dr. Timothy Williams, MD, FACR, FASTRO, with Boca Raton Regional Hospital brings 16 years of experience as a radiation oncologist. He is reappointed as the board-certified radiation oncologist for a three-year term beginning July 10, 2015, and ending July 9, 2018.
