Tallahassee, Fla.—The approved low-THC cannabis dispensing organizations have all posted their $5 million performance bonds required by 381.986(5)(b)(5), Florida Statutes. The Florida Department of Health announced on Nov. 23, 2015 the five approved dispensing organizations – Hackney Nursery Company, Chestnut Hill Tree Farm, LLC, Knox Nursery, Inc., Alpha Foliage, Inc. and Costa Nursery Farms, LLC.

The process and timeline for cultivation, processing and dispensing to patients is set forth in rule and statute. The next step is for approved dispensing organizations to request cultivation authorization, which must be done within 75 days of being notified of their selection and cultivation must begin within 210 days of receiving cultivation authorization.

A rulemaking workshop was held yesterday in Tallahassee to engage stakeholders in the development of standards for department ongoing inspections of approved low-THC cannabis dispensing organizations. The initial draft language discussed at the workshop for development of Rule 64-4.010, Florida Administrative Code, is available here.

The department encourages the public to submit feedback for use in the rulemaking process. Written responses can be submitted to Courtney Coppola, statewide coordinator of the Office of Compassionate Use, via email at Courtney.Coppola@flhealth.gov or traditional mail at 4052 Bald Cypress Way, Bin #A06, Tallahassee, FL 32399.
