Tallahassee, Fla.- As Floridians get ready for annual checkups, the Florida Department of Health has made it easier for patients to “check up” on their physicians. The Division of Medical Quality Assurance (MQA) consumer services search portal, as part of the FLHealthSource.gov website, provides consumers direct access to the division's online license verification lookup. With an improved, user-friendly web portal, it is easier than ever for patients to find the status of a license, disciplinary and administrative actions, view practitioner profiles, as well as download additional useful information from the portal.

“It’s important for the public to be able to make informed decisions when choosing a health care professional,” said State Surgeon General and Secretary of Health Dr. John Armstrong. “This redesigned web portal gives patients the information they need to make that decision with greater confidence.”

The newly organized consumer services portal will give the public access to:

License Verification to verify the status of license as well as confirm important details relating to the licensee.

Practitioner Profile to view detailed information for certain professions who are required to maintain a more detailed profile.

Discipline & Administrative Actions for viewing a variety of information relative to complaints, discipline and other administrative actions that may be recorded for a practitioner or establishment.

Nursing Education Programs to view details relating to education programs throughout the state for all levels of nursing.

Prescription Pad Vendors lists the printing vendors who have been approved to print prescription pads for the medical community.

Working in conjunction with 22 boards and six councils, MQA regulates seven types of facilities and 200-plus license types in more than 40 health care professions. MQA evaluates the credentials of all applicants for licensure, issues licenses, analyzes and investigates complaints, inspects facilities, assists in prosecuting practice act violations, combats unlicensed activity and provides credential and discipline history about licensees to the public.
