Tallahassee, Fla.—The Florida Department of Health is pleased to announce Kimberly T. Allbritton as the new administrator for the Florida Department of Health in Jefferson and Madison Counties. Allbritton will be responsible for overseeing all operations including planning, directing, developing and coordinating public health programs and activities. She will address state and local public health priorities and provide population-based partnerships with community stakeholders. In addition to these duties Allbritton will also be in charge of managing the budgets at both health departments.

“Ms. Allbritton has served in this role before and has a proven track record with advancing public health for the people of Jefferson and Madison Counties,” said Paul Myers, Deputy Secretary for County Health Services. “I am more than confident that she will continue this dedication while she serves as administrator.”

From July 2012 – January 2016, Allbritton served as acting administrator for Jefferson and Madison Counties. While serving in this role, she also held the position of operations and management consultant manager, working to ensure satisfactory community relations and partnership development. Starting in August 2008, Allbritton served as human services program manager until 2012, a role in which she was responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Low Income Pool project.

Allbritton started her career with the department in 1987 as a public health assistance eligibility specialist at what was then the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services (HRS) until 1990. She then worked as a family and child counselor for HRS until 1991 in Taylor County. Allbritton was employed by Turnabout Inc. from 1991 - 1993, as a therapist and later as Director of Social Services at Perry Health Facility. From 1995 – 2004 she worked at the Healthy Start Coalition of Jefferson, Madison, & Taylor Counties, Inc. where she was the Chief Executive Director from  1997 – 2004. Before joining the department Allbritton was a resource compliance specialist at Taylor County High School from 2004 – 2008, administering oversight of the Exceptional Student Education Program.

Allbritton received her Bachelors of Science in Marketing & Management from Florida State University in 1987. She also has a licensure for a Professional Educators Certificate.

The administrator role for Jefferson and Madison was previously held by Jennifer S. Johnson since January of 2016, who will now serve as the department’s new Division Director of Public Health Statistics and Performance Management. Johnson will oversee the Department’s strategic planning and accreditation process, as well as quality improvement functions of the performance management system.
