Meet The Press Team
The press team coordinates media relations for the department by responding to media inquiries including public records and interview requests. The team is also responsible for advising media outlets across the state and nation about important public health issues and events.
In an effort to be responsive and available to members of the media at all times, especially during an outbreak or serious public health threat, below you’ll find contact information for each member of the press team. After-hour media requests should be sent to Communications Director Mara Gambineri or Deputy Press Secretary Brad Dalton.
Mara Gambineri | Communications Director
Mara Gambineri joined the Florida Department of Health as press secretary in May 2015. She serves as the official department spokesperson. Most recently, Mara served as a public information specialist with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) where she oversaw communications for five divisions and six regulatory districts. Prior to her position with DEP, Mara worked as a public information specialist for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. She received both her bachelor’s degree in political science and international affairs and her master’s degree in applied American politics from the Florida State University.
Sarah Revell | Media and Marketing Manager
Sarah Revell joined the Florida Department of Health in May 2016. As Media and Marketing Manager (formerly the Press Secretary position), Sarah is responsible for facilitating marketing and handling media calls for the Department. Sarah brings extensive experience from both private and public sector communications. Most recently she was an account manager at CoreMessage, Inc. Previously she assisted Governor Scott and was Chief of Staff to First Lady Ann Scott where she helped to create and implement her public agenda. Sarah earned her Bachelors degree in Public Relations from Florida State University.
Brad Dalton | Deputy Press Secretary
Brad Dalton joined the Florida Department of Health in May of 2015. He serves as communications coordinator for the division of Medical Quality Assurance (MQA). MQA licenses and regulates seven types of facilities and 200-plus license types in more than 40 healthcare professions. Previously, Brad worked in the private sector as Sports Director with WTXL, the ABC affiliate in Tallahassee Florida, and brings 13 years of newsroom experience to the department. He owns a bachelor’s degree in broadcast communications from Georgia Southern University.
Heather Kelleher | Speech Writer
Heather Kelleher joined the Florida Department of Health in July 2015 as a public information specialist. In her role as the executive speechwriter and internal communications specialist, Heather is responsible for coordinating and providing materials to executive leadership for speaking engagements. Heather also writes and develops internal communication products. Prior to this role, she served as the communications coordinator for the Children’s Medical Services Managed Care Plan (CMS Plan). Before joining the Department, her work experience was in academia where she taught writing composition as a graduate teaching assistant. She holds a Master’s in English from Florida State University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida.
