Planning for Recovery is essential. Without advance planning it is more difficult to restore necessary public health services during recovery. Each disaster and affected community is unique. Vulnerable and underserved populations may be more affected by unmet and long-term needs. Planning for each circumstance is not possible but planning can allow communities to have the partners and resources in place and ready to adapt.
This toolkit provides links to information and resources to support county health departments, health care system partners and partner agencies in planning for and meeting short and long-term post-disaster needs.
