Florida Resources 

Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) - State agency with the mission to protect the vulnerable, promote strong and economically self-sufficient families, and advance personal and family recovery and resiliency. The DCF Child Care Main webpage contains resources for parents and child care providers.

Florida Department of Health, Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) - The webpage includes emergency guidelines for schools, and other resources and information related to pediatric emergency care in the healthcare system.

FloridaDisaster.org - Florida Division of Emergency Management website with disaster information and resources for families, children, persons with disabilities, and businesses.

National Resources 

American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Children and Disasters - Website with a wide variety of disaster preparedness resources, tools, and presentations for pediatricians, child care providers, families, hospitals, policymakers, and schools.

American Academy of Pediatrics - YouTube Video channel - A collection of AAP presentations. Several videos are designed to help families communicate with children before, during, and after a disaster. Includes videos on Disaster Preparation Basics, Media and Disasters, and Mental Health After Disasters.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention - Preparedness Resources for Pediatric Offices and Hospitals - Contains a collection of documents and resources such as: A Disaster Preparedness Plan for Pediatricians.

FEMA National Training and Education Online Course Catalog - The FEMA Emergency Management Institute offers on-line courses including courses to assist schools in emergency planning and preparation for school-based incidents. For example: IS-100.SCa Introduction to Incident Command System for Schools and IS 362- Multi-Hazard Emergency Planning for Schools.

National Association of School Psychologists - Association that supports school psychologists to enhance the learning and mental health of all children and youth. The site contains information for parents and educators on coping with crisis and disasters.

National Child Traumatic Stress Network
- Established to improve access to care, treatment, and services for traumatized children and adolescents exposed to traumatic events. The site contains resources for parents and caregivers, schools, policy makers, professionals, and the media.

Save the Children - An independent organization dedicated to creating change in the lives of children in need. The Save the Children, Emergency Response Domestic Disaster Support page contains reports, publications, and fact sheets for the Child-Friendly Spaces program, disaster lessons learned, planning guides, resilient and ready communities, psychosocial programs, and more. The page also provides links to other children's preparedness resources.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) - Disaster Behavioral Health Preparedness and Response Resources - SAMHSA webpage that provides disaster preparedness and recovery resources for professionals who assist individuals and communities in coping with disaster. Includes resources for children as a population group.

U.S. Department of Education Emergency Planning - Webpage with information that can help school leaders plan for any emergency, including natural disasters, violent incidents, and terrorist acts.

U.S. Department of Education Readiness and Emergency Management for Schools Technical Assistance Center - Supports schools, school districts, and institutions of higher education in emergency management, including the development and implementation of comprehensive emergency and crisis response plans. The site includes links to training, Webinars, grant programs, and other resources.
