The Department’s Bureau of Emergency Medical Oversight (Bureau) is currently well positioned to build and enhance the stakeholder relationships needed to support the effort to decrease the number of opioid-involved overdoses. There are several existing councils and workgroups the Bureau works with to address a broad spectrum of public health issues. An effective and efficient response necessitates that agencies and organizations are unified in their efforts and understanding of the issues to develop targeted and coordinated responses.
The Department’s key collaborative agencies, partners, and councils for this effort – both internal and external – are noted as follows:
The Department has already garnered the formal support of the Florida Medical Examiners Commission (integral to providing local-level data resources for surveillance), critical law enforcement partners, such as the Florida Sheriffs’ Association (FSA) and the Florida Police Chief’s Association (FPCA), and local drug abuse and prevention organizations, such as the Volusia-Flagler Substance Abuse Task Force (SATF).
