Nationwide Waivers
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has granted States significant program flexibilities and contingencies to best serve program participants during the COVID-19 pandemic. Below is a summary of nationwide waivers that apply to the Child Care Food Program (CCFP).

| Meal Pattern Requirements | Allow specific meal pattern flexibility – Ounce Equivalents. The crediting of grains by ounce equivalents is no longer required to be implemented 10/1/2021 and will not be required until after the expiration of the waiver. All other meal pattern requirements remain in effect. | June 30, 2022 |
| Congregate (Group) Meal Requirements | Supports social distancing by allowing meals to be provided as grab‘n go to a parent or guardian or for meals to be delivered. | June 30, 2022 |
| Meal Service Time Requirements | Allows program operators the flexibility to adjust the times meals and snacks are provided in order to streamline operations. | June 30, 2022 |
| Parent/Guardian Meal Pick-up | Allows sites that are approved for non-congregate meal service to distribute meals to a parent or guardian to take home to their eligible child(ren). | June 30, 2022 |
| Monitoring Requirements for Sponsoring Organizations | Allows CCFP sponsoring organizations to continue monitoring requirements included at 7 CFR 226.16(d)(4)(iii) offsite (e.g., through a desk audit). Under 7 CFR 226.16(d)(4)(iii), CCFP sponsoring organizations must review each facility three times each year and: 1) at least two of the three revies must e unannounced; 2) at least one unannounced review must include observation of meal service; 3) at least one review must be made during each new facility’s first four weeks of Program operations; and 4) not more than six months may elapse between reviews | June 30, 2022 |
| Area Eligibility for Afterschool Meals Program (AMP) and Family Day Care Home (DCH) Providers | Allows schools and afterschool care centers, regardless of their location, to serve AMP meals and snacks to students after the regular school day. This waiver also allows day care homes to claim all meals served to enrolled children at the Tier 1 rate, regardless of location | June 30, 2022 |
Note: Waivers remain in effect through the expiration date or upon expiration of the federally declared public health emergency, whichever is earlier.
