FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH ANNOUNCES NEW PRESS SECRETARY
TALLAHASSEE—The Florida Department of Health has announced Mara Burger as the new press secretary for the department, an appointment that began May 4. Burger will serve as the official department spokesperson and will facilitate all media interviews with senior leadership officials and subject matter experts.
“The department is committed to sharing timely and accurate information with the people of Florida,” said Chief of Staff Jennifer Tschetter. “Mara comes to us with great experience in state government that will ensure our messaging is communicated effectively, and we’re thrilled to welcome her to our team.”
Most recently, Burger served as a public information specialist with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) where she oversaw communications for the Division of State Lands, Division of Waste Management, the Division of Air Resource Management, State Parks and the six Regulatory District Offices. Prior to her position with DEP, Burger also worked as a public information specialist for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
Burger received both her bachelor’s degree in political science and international affairs and her master’s degree in applied American politics from the Florida State University.
