Eleven Appointed To Advisory Council On Brain And Spinal Cord Injuries

STATE SURGEON GENERAL DOCTOR JOHN ARMSTRONG APPOINTS ELEVEN TO ADVISORY COUNCIL ON BRAIN AND SPINAL CORD INJURIES

TALLAHASSEE—Today, State Surgeon General and Secretary of Health Dr. John Armstrong announced 11 appointments to the Advisory Council on Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries.

Ms. Natalie Alden with Disability Rights Florida is an experienced advocate for persons with disabilities. She is appointed as a spinal cord injury survivor for a four-year term beginning July 14, 2015, and ending July 13, 2019.

Dr. Josephine Baluga, MD, with Florida State Hospital brings 18 years of experience as a practicing psychiatrist. She is appointed as a physician member for a four-year term beginning July 14, 2015, and ending July 13, 2019.

Ms. Suzanne Doswell is a brain injury specialist with 19 years of experience working in programs supporting individuals with brain injuries. She is appointed as a brain injury survivor for a four-year term beginning July 14, 2015, and ending July 13, 2019.

Ms. Mary Gallagher, with the Agency for Persons with Disabilities is experienced in providing services for persons with disabilities. She is appointed as a spinal cord injury survivor for a four-year term beginning July 14, 2015, and ending July 13, 2019.

Annie Jackson, MSW, with Florida State Hospital brings 40 years of experience in social work. She is appointed as a family member of a brain injury survivor for a four-year term beginning July 14, 2015, and ending July 13, 2019.

Ms. Marsha Martino with Gulfstream Goodwill Industries, Inc. brings 25 years of experience in neuro-rehabilitation. She is appointed as professional with expertise in rehabilitation of individuals with brain or spinal cord injuries for a four-year term beginning July 14, 2015, and ending July 13, 2019.

Mr. Evan Piper, president of Piper Medical, Mobility & Accessibility, brings 35 years of experience in providing services and consultation for post-disability life. He is reappointed as a spinal cord injury survivor for a four-year term beginning July 14, 2015, and ending July 13, 2019.

Dr. Bonnie Rice, DNP, ARNP, FNP-C, CPHQ, CRRN, with Tampa General Hospital brings 30 years of nursing experience. She is reappointed as a representative of the special needs of children who have brain or spinal cord injuries for a four-year term beginning July 14, 2015, and ending July 13, 2019.

Mr. Peter Szymanski, retired, brings more than 20 years of law enforcement experience. He is appointed as brain and spinal cord injury survivor for a four-year term beginning July 14, 2015, and ending July 13, 2019.

Mr. B. Randall Thompson, MBA, LNHA, FACHE with West Florida Rehabilitation Institute brings 16 years of experience in physical medicine. He is appointed as professional with expertise in rehabilitation of individuals with brain or spinal cord injuries for a four-year term beginning July 14, 2015, and ending July 13, 2019.

Mr. Richard Zeidman, retired, has served more than 25 years as an advocate for individuals with brain injuries and their families. He is appointed as a family member of a brain injury survivor for a four-year term beginning July 14, 2015, and ending July 13, 2019.
