What internships are offered at the Florida Department of Health in Clay County?

The Florida Department of Health in Clay County is committed to assisting students in gaining real-world public health experience.  We are proud to offer both clinical and non-clinical internships.

Internship placement opportunities may be available in the following areas:

Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Services

Epidemiology

Environmental Health

Emergency Planning and Preparedness

Community Health Education and Outreach

Communications/Public Relations

 

What are the qualifying criteria for being an intern?

To intern with the Florida Department of Health in Clay County, you must be 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license and currently be enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies at a college or university. All candidates will need to have a level 2 background check completed. To gain as much hands-on public health experience as possible, most of the internship hours must be completed in person. Some independent study may be allowed and approved on a case-by-case basis. Each program may also have additional criteria that prospective interns must meet to be selected.

 

Is this a paid internship?

No. Students do not receive any monetary compensation for interning with the Florida Department of Health in Clay County.

 

How can I apply for an internship?

If you would like more information on the specific projects available or information on how to apply, please email your inquiry to the Director of Community Health Services at ClayCHDWeb@flhealth.gov.

We handle requests for internships on a case-by-case basis, subject to availability. For a student to participate in an internship, their university/school must have a Memorandum of Agreement with Florida Department of Health in Clay County. If your school does not currently have an agreement, we can work with you to complete the necessary paperwork.
