The School Health Services Program helps students across all 67 Florida counties stay healthy, in school, and ready to learn. Through partnerships with local school districts, health departments, and community organizations, the program delivers essential health services directly in public schools from pre-K through 12th grade.

School health staff provide a wide range of services, including:

  • Health screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis, growth)
  • Nursing assessments and care for chronic conditions like asthma, diabetes, and epilepsy
  • First aid and emergency care
  • Help with medications and health procedures during the school day
  • Health counseling, referrals, and follow-up care
  • Preventive dental services and communicable disease support

When students are healthy, they’re more likely to succeed in school. Registered nurses and trained support staff work every day to remove health related barriers to learning so students can focus on their education.

To find out how your local school health services program supports your local schools, or how to get involved, please reach out to your county health department or school district.
