The Refugee Health Program plays a crucial role in providing sensitive health services to refugees in Florida. Through funding from the federal government and the state, the program aims to enhance the personal health status of refugees and protect the public health of Florida. By working closely with various organizations and healthcare providers, the program ensures that refugees receive the necessary medical care and support to rebuild their lives in the United States.

To achieve this goal, the Refugee Health Program require that you complete your health assessment within 90 days from your date of arrival/eligibility. Funding for the program is provided by the Federal Office of Refugee Resettlement and the Florida Department of Children and Families, Refugee Services. This financial support enables the program to continue its important work in serving various groups of individuals, including refugees, asylees, Cuban/Haitian asylum applicants, Cuban/Haitian entrants, Amerasians, Iraqi/Afghan special immigrants, and victims of severe forms of human trafficking. By conducting health assessments and providing immunizations, the program aims to enhance the personal health status of refugees, contribute to elements for adjustment of status and protect the public health of Florida.

As a result, 31 out of the 67 counties in Florida regularly receive refugees for health services. Among these counties, Miami-Dade, Hillsborough, Duval, Palm Beach, Broward, Orange, Collier, Lee, and Pinellas are the most common resettlement destinations.
