Radiation Training Courses

Contact Environmental Radiation

The Bureau of Radiation Control has offered a variety of radiation training courses over the years, some of which are available for a limited time, and some of which are ongoing. A brief description is provided below, along with links for further information. All training is currently grant funded, and free-of-charge.

Current Classes

  • CTOS PER-388 Course (ROSS) Orlando Sept 30-Oct 3, 2025 (Pending FEMA funding)

The CTOS PER-388 course trains radiological specialists to become candidates for the position of Radiological Operations Support Specialist (ROSS). A ROSS is a State and local Subject Matter Expert (SME) tasked with identifying and providing critical information pertaining to radiological or nuclear incidents to responders, key leaders, and decision makers in an Incident Command System environment.

Prerequisites for this free 4-day training class include (FEMA) ICS-100, ICS-200, IS-700, IS-800 and (CTOS) PER-307-W, AWR-400-W.
Travel/Per diem is the responsibility of the individual/agency. For more information, see the links below.
