CDC created this portal to help explore and visualize data on antibiotic resistance and health care-associated infections.
Available data include antibiotic resistance on both gram-positive and gram-negative organisms. The data reflect inpatient antibiotic resistance, where “inpatient” refers to an individual receiving care within a hospital. The antibiotic resistance types that are featured on this page are often a result of extensive antibiotic use in hospitals.
Data are available for the following organisms:
Gram-positive
- Enterococcus faecalis
- Enterococcus faecium
- CNS (Coagulase-negative staphylococci)
- MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus)
Gram-negative
- Acinetobacter spp.
- CRE (All Carbapenem-Resistant Enterobacteriaceae)
- Enterobacter spp.
- Klebsiella spp.
- Pseudomonas aeruginosa
- MDR (Multidrug-Resistant)
