Trauma System Assessment
(August 2020, Amended January 26,2021)

Pursuant to section 395.402(2)(b), Florida Statutes, the Department is required to make available all data, formulas, methodologies, calculations, and risk adjustment tools used in preparing the report. The following tools were used in the completion of the assessment but not included in the appendices.

The assessment was amended to include GME attestations from Orlando Health and Kendall Regional Medical Center.
Five-year-population increase was calculated using population estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau at The formula is subtraction of the 2014 population estimate from the 2019 population estimate and division by the 2014 population, aggregated by Trauma Service Area.
The ICD-10 codes that are considered traumatic injuries are taken from the National Trauma Data Standard (NTDS) Patient Inclusion Criteria (
