TALLAHASSEE—The Florida Department of Health today announced Sheri Hutchinson as the new Press Secretary for the Department. In this role, Hutchinson will serve as the official department spokesperson. She will be responsible for coordinating media interviews with senior Department of Health officials and other subject matter experts as well as conducting earned media campaigns that highlight the many successful programs and extensive services provided through the Department of Health. Hutchinson has served as Interim Press Secretary since August of 2013.

“Communicating relevant information to the people of Florida is a top priority for the Department of Health,” said Kim Barnhill, Chief of Staff. “Sheri Hutchinson brings to this role a high level of experience and dedication to public health and we are pleased to welcome her to our team in Tallahassee.”

Previously Hutchinson served as Program Operations Administrator for the Florida Department of Health in Lake County. Her responsibilities included developing communication strategies to promote public health programs and community health initiatives, implementing the crisis and risk communication response plan, and representing the Department at community events. Before working with the Florida Department of Health, Hutchinson served as the Southeast Operations Director with Angel Flight Southeast in Leesburg where she managed all facets of headquarters operations and supervised staff and volunteers across a five-state region.

Hutchinson received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing from Stetson University in DeLand.
