Claudia Blackburn Appointed as Administrator for Leon County

TALLAHASSEE—The Florida Department of Health announces Claudia Blackburn, MPH, RNC, CPM as the new administrator for the Florida Department of Health in Leon County. Ms. Blackburn joins the Florida Department of Health after serving as health director for the Sedgwick County Health Department in Wichita, Kansas.
“Claudia Blackburn is an outstanding addition to the Florida Department of Health in Leon County,” said Meade Grigg, Deputy Secretary for Statewide Services. “Ms. Blackburn is a nationally recognized leader in public health, and we are confident that she will continue to provide excellent public service to the people of Leon County.”
A graduate of the University of Connecticut, BSN, and the University of Texas, MPH, Ms. Blackburn was trained as a women’s health nurse practitioner. Ms. Blackburn has served as a local public health director in both Texas and Kansas for more than 18 years. Ms. Blackburn is a past president of both the Kansas Association of Local Health Departments and Texas Association of Local Health Departments. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association of County and City Health Officials. Ms. Blackburn also serves as a site reviewer for the Public Health Accreditation Board.
Ms. Blackburn is joining the Florida Department of Health in Leon County via a contract with the Florida State University College of Medicine. The Florida Department of Health is pleased to have a proven leader with Ms. Blackburn’s qualifications and experience to serve the people of Leon County.
