STATE SURGEON GENERAL APPOINTS SEVEN TO EMS FOR CHILDREN ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Tallahassee, Fla.—Today, State Surgeon General and Secretary of Health Dr. John Armstrong announced seven appointments to the Emergency Medical Services for Children Advisory Committee.

Peter Antevy, MD, CEO and founder of Pediatric Emergency Standards, Inc., brings 10 years of experience as a pediatric emergency physician and over five years of experience as an emergency medical services medical director. He is appointed as a physician with pediatric experience for a two-year term through Oct. 22, 2017.

James “Jay” Brosnan, BSN, RN, PMD, critical care/intensive care unit nurse with Twin Cities Hospital, brings 35 years public safety experience in a variety of fields. He is reappointed as the emergency preparedness representative for a two-year term through Oct. 22, 2017.

Kathy Browning, BSN, RN, NCSN, school nurse and district support with Pasco County Schools, brings 23 years of experience as a school health nurse.  She is appointed as the school representative for a two-year term through Oct. 22, 2017.

Lisa Green, voluntary pre-kindergarten teacher, brings eight years of experience teaching elementary and pre-kindergarten children. She is appointed as a family representative for a two-year term through Oct. 22, 2017.

Laurie Romig, MD, FACEP, emergency medical services consultant, brings 20 years of experience working with emergency medical services and emergency management. She is reappointed as an emergency physician for a two-year term through Oct. 22, 2017.

Nichole “Nikki” Shimko, BSN, RN, CCRN, CPN, pediatric critical care transport team coordinator with Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida, brings 16 years of experience as a pediatric intensive care unit register nurse. She is reappointed as a nurse with emergency pediatric experience for a two-year term through Oct. 22, 2017.

Steve White, MPA, PMD, emergency medical services program director at Pensacola State College, brings 20 years public safety experience. He is appointed as an emergency medical services education manager for a two-year term through Oct. 22, 2017.
