Zika Grant Initiative to be Discussed at Biomedical Research Advisory Council

Tallahassee, Fla.—Following Governor Rick Scott’s authorization of $25 million in state funds for Zika virus research, the Florida Department of Health Biomedical Research Advisory Council (BRAC) will meet to discuss the funding opportunity announcement that will be issued for Zika research grants. 

This funding will be spent for the purpose of Zika research, including:

  • Expediting the development of a vaccine to prevent Zika infection;
  • Long-term impacts of Zika virus on children and adults; and
  • The development of innovative, cost-effective Zika testing methods.
