Florida Health Honors Service Men and Women on Veterans Day

By Florida Department of Health, Office of Communications

November 10, 2016

On Veterans Day – November 11 – the Florida Department of Health honors the brave men and women who made tremendous sacrifices to protect our freedoms and keep our homes safe from harm. More than 1.5 million veterans call Florida home, and the department is committed to serving members of the United States Armed Forces, veterans and their families.

One of the many services the department offers is the Florida Veterans Application for Licensure Online Response (VALOR) system, which provides an expedited licensing process for honorably discharged veterans with an active license in another state. The department also waives initial licensing and application fees for military veterans who apply for a health care professional license within 60 months of an honorable discharge. These initiatives help ensure that the transition from military service into the workforce is as smooth as possible and reflects our appreciation for their service to our country.
