Tallahassee, Fla.- The Florida Department of Health’s Division of Medical Quality Assurance (MQA) reminds health care professionals to report their continuing education hours as they are completed, prior to license renewal. Professionals are required to enter continuing education hours into the department’s electronic tracking system, powered by CE Broker, prior to renewing their licenses.

“I urge all licensed health professionals to make sure their continuing education hours are entered prior to renewal to avoid any lapses in licensure,” said State Surgeon General and Secretary of Health Dr. John Armstrong. “We want the licensure renewal process to be as smooth as possible so that health professionals can remain focused on caring for patients.”

MQA is committed to making the reporting experience quick and easy. In an effort to expedite the reporting process, medical doctors and osteopathic physicians now have the option to use CE Broker’s Quick Report feature. Using the Quick Report feature will allow physicians to report all of their continuing medical education hours completed with the same approved organization at one time. In the last two years, the Are You Renewal Ready? Campaign has helped streamline the license renewal process through direct client outreach, educational webinars and partnerships with professional organizations for health care licensees. As of Nov. 30, 2015, “Are You Renewal Ready?” outreach staff have visited 1,146 facilities and reached more than 8,600 health care licensees this year. Additionally, 13,114 health care providers have participated in webinars on CE requirements and CE Broker.

During this outreach, staff also organized 5K Fun Runs to encourage health care professionals to make a commitment to their health. The 5K Fun Runs also promote the department’s Healthiest Weight initiative, which encourages practitioners to become a model of good health within their communities.
