Tallahassee, Fla. - February is Dental Health Month and Tuesday, Feb. 9, is “Smile Day on the Hill” at Florida’s Capitol. Dental hygienists from across the state traveled to Tallahassee promoting the idea that a healthy body begins with a healthy mouth.

“Smile Day is a wonderful reminder that oral health is important to our overall well-being,” said State Surgeon General and Secretary of Health Dr. John Armstrong. “It is also great time to remind dental health professionals that it is license renewal month.”

The Florida Department of Health’s Division of Medical Quality Assurance reminds all dental professionals that February is time for license renewals. Dental health licensees required to renew their license no later than midnight, Eastern Time, on Feb. 28.

It is important to renew on time to avoid the license being placed in delinquent status. Failure by a delinquent licensee to renew before the expiration of the current licensure cycle renders the license null and void without any further action by the board or the department.
