Health improvement planning takes place at the state and local levels. To develop Florida's 2022-2026 State Health Improvement Plan, the Florida Department of Health led a diverse partnership of public health system partners to conduct a comprehensive state health assessment.

Beginning with Florida's 2017-2020 State Health Improvement Plan (SHIP), the Injury, Safety and Violence (ISV) Priority Area goals and objectives serve as the state's statutorily required Injury Prevention Strategic Plan (401.243, F.S.).

The stakeholders who contribute to strategies and activities under the plan are referred to as the Priority Area Workgroup (PAW). The PAW replaced the former Florida Injury Prevention Advisory Council (FIPAC).

2014-2016 Injury Prevention State Plan

The 2014-2016 Injury Prevention State Plan included goals as a framework to strengthen statewide coordination and expansion of injury prevention activities in Florida.

2014-2016 Injury Prevention Operational Plan

The 2014-2016 Florida Injury Prevention State Plan and 2014-2016 Injury Prevention Operational Plan consists of three goals and two initiatives, each implemented by a goal team or initiative workgroup.

The 2009–2013 Florida Injury Prevention Strategic Plan served as a successor to Florida’s 2004–2008 Injury Prevention Strategic Plan.

2004-2008 Florida Injury Prevention Plan

The Office of Injury Prevention facilitated and coordinated the 2004-2008 Florida Injury Prevention Plan with injury prevention stakeholders and other state agencies. The Department of Health Office of Injury Prevention served as the lead agency in facilitation and coordinating the strategic planning meetings for more than 220 injury prevention advocates and community partners who worked together to develop this plan. This plan was the first Injury Prevention State Plan since the late 1980s. The plan includes mission and vision statements, as well as goals and strategies to address injury prevention.
