Epilepsy Services Program

The Epilepsy Services Program is unique client collaboration with epileptic individuals. The Florida Department of Health partners with six of the most knowledgeable epilepsy providers that are located throughout the state of Florida to better assist residents in all regions. The goal of this program is to increase the independency of epileptic individuals, the knowledge of the public about epilepsy, the research behind this condition, and most importantly neurological functions in individuals with epilepsy.

Florida Statutes 385.207(2)(a) states that the Department of Health shall establish with the office of the Deputy State Health Officer a program for the care and assistance of persons with epilepsy and promote and assist in the continued development and expansion of programs for the case management, diagnosis, care and treatment of such persons, including required pharmaceuticals, medical procedures, and techniques which will have a positive effect in the care and treatment of persons with epilepsy.

Epilepsy Services Providers

Any resident of Florida who is diagnosed with epilepsy, or is suspected of having epilepsy, and who needs the program's services can apply to be a client.

The Epilepsy Services Program works within the client's ability to pay. If the client's gross family income is less than 100 percent of the federal poverty income guidelines, services are provided free of charge. If the client's gross family income is more than 100 percent of the federal poverty income guidelines, medical services are provided on a sliding fee scale.
