Overview

The purpose of the Investigation Unit is to protect and enhance the public health, welfare, and safety of the citizens and visitors of the state of Florida. This is accomplished through disciplining individuals, providers, and training schools and 911 Public Service Telecommunicators (PSTs) who fail to comply with the statutes and rules regulated by the EMS Section.

The Investigation Unit at the EMS Section analyzes and investigates legally sufficient complaints against Florida Training Schools, Florida EMS providers, 911 PSTs, and anyone or entity acting as such. The section also works in conjunction with the Division of Medical Quality Assurance (MQA), who investigates legally sufficient complaints against emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics. Prosecution of all cases are sent to the EMS Section prosecuting attorney for handling.
