Apraxia of Speech is a speech disorder in which a person has trouble saying what he or she wants to say correctly and consistently. The severity of apraxia can range from mild to severe.
Most of the time, the cause of childhood apraxia of speech is unknown. In some cases, damage to the brain causes apraxia of speech.
Damage may be caused by a genetic disorder or syndrome, or by a stroke or traumatic brain injury.
