EMS preparedness is a component of a larger performance management system within the Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Oversight (BEMO).
EMS Preparedness serves to support Florida’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in creating, promoting, and sustaining a state of readiness and strategic, response capabilities to protect Florida’s citizens and visitors during catastrophic events, large-scale emergencies, and disasters.
Our mission is accomplished by coordinating with government, public, and private emergency medical services and EMS stakeholders statewide, sharing in a common goal to implement strategies in support of an all-hazard response system and promoting enhanced EMS capabilities, interoperability, training, sustainability, and continuity in EMS preparedness.
